Ice Cave Tour & Diamond Beach

A few days later we were able to thankfully do our glacier and ice cave tour. Although this was a different tour than we signed up for, we were just grateful that we got to even do a tour at all. The tour ended up being one of our favorite things we did on the trip. We did a short hike to the glacier and then we basically just had free time to look around and go inside the ice caves and glacier. The glacier we went to is the largest ice cap in Europe and is called Vatnajokull. The average thickness of the ice is 1,250 feet and the maximum thickness is 3,120 feet. There are also several volcanoes located underneath the glacier, with the last known eruption in 2011. Seeing a glacier up close was one of the coolest things I've ever done.
