Prague!!

A few weekends ago Drew and I took a quick trip to Prague. We took the 5 hour train from Munich on Friday afternoon and came back on Sunday evening. We felt that Prague is a really great weekend trip since you can see and do pretty much everything there is to offer.

Here are the highlights of our trip:

1. Enjoying the traditional Prague dessert- the Trdelník. Although this dessert is actually said to have it's origins in Slovakia or Hungary, it has become a pretty big deal in Prague :) It is a chimney cake that is baked on a spit and then dusted in cinnamon sugar. Nowadays you can get them all different ways... with ice cream, chocolate, strawberries, nuts, etc. My favorite was the ice cream and chocolate. YUM!

2. Trying all the kolaches and pastries at a local farmer's market. This isn't a huge touristy thing to do in Prague as it is a little bit outside the main area but this was probably our favorite thing we did while in Prague. The market was right on the water with tons of local vendors selling pastries, kolaches, produce, coffee, etc. If you've ever had a kolache from West, Texas then you know how amazing they are. They say that kolaches did originate in the Czech Republic but only the sweet ones. The ones in Texas are both sweet and savory.

3. Seeing the beautiful views of Prague from the Petrin Tower. This tower is a mini Eiffel tower and has incredible views of the city.

4. Walking around the town and eating dinner at the open air market! The city of Prague is so beautiful with all the old buildings and pastel colors. Another favorite thing we did was have dinner at the Manifesto Florenc which was basically a big outdoor seating area with tons of different food trucks. We opted to have a BBQ sandwich, mac & cheese, and mini pancakes for dessert. SUPER delicious! There were so many great choices that it was hard to decide. Sometimes, if we aren't huge fans of the local cuisine, we like to eat at places like this while traveling. We still get a local feel but also get to have yummy food that we enjoy :) Here are some pics from our walk around the city:
